Strictly speaking there is no IVA register. Anyone who starts an Individual Voluntary Arrangement will be placed onto what is called the Individual Insolvency Register.
The register holds records of every active Bankruptcy, Debt Relief Order and IVA living in England and Wales. Your details will remain on the register until your IVA completes or is terminated. There could also be a few extra months for it to be removed.
What information is given on the Insolvency Register?
The following information appears on the register:
- Your name
- Your date of birth
- Your gender
- The date your IVA started
- Your address
Will you appear on the IVA Register?
Everyone who is insolvent will appear on the Insolvency Register. Unfortunately there is no way to avoid this.
Over the years, we’ve spoken with people who didn’t want to start a debt solution because they would appear on the Insolvency Register. There are many reasons you might not want to start a debt solution, but this shouldn’t be one of them.
The only people who might see you on the register are your lenders. Even if you decide to tell other people about your IVA, it’s unlikely they will have heard of the Insolvency Register.
